KING OF THE HEIGHTS

 

Rules:

GENERAL:
This tournament shall be sanctioned by, played under the General Playing Rules of and be open to all
members of the B.T.B.A. Players must produce a current, valid membership card at registration.
Juniors may participate, provided they are in possession of a J/A Card.

TOURNAMENT MANAGER:
The Tournament Manager shall be Keith Boyden, whose word, subject to appeal to the B.T.B.A.,
shall be law.
The aforementioned reserves the right to refuse or re-rate any entry, at any time, for any,
or indeed no, reason.

AVERAGES:
Players must declare their highest current league or tournament average over a minimum of 18 games.
Average from this tournament may be used, subject to minimum of 18 games and no more than 10 pins
below current highest average. Documentary evidence must be provided and averages will be checked
at random. Handicap will be based on 80% of the difference between entering average and 210
with no maximum. A separate scratch section will be available.

COST:
The entry cost shall be £15.00 for either scratch or handicap division, £20.00 for both.
Costs apportioned thus: Lineage £9.50, Expenses 80p, Team England 20p,
Prize Fund, returned 100%, £4.50.
Optional Division: Expenses 50p, Prize Fund, returned 100%, £4.50.
Prize payout in each division will be one place per five entrants.

FORMAT: Players will bowl five games, changing lanes after each game.
The highest total score over five games shall qualify for prizes and, as appropriate, the stepladder final,
which will be played over one game per round.
A maximum of four bowlers will qualify for the stepladder final.
In any case the lowest paying place shall not, e.g. 5-8 places, 4 in stepladder; 4 places. 3 in stepladder;
3 places, 2 in stepladder.

TIE BREAKS:
QUALIFYING: If, at the end of five games, two or more players are tied for one position, the following
shall apply: Highest scratch score advances. If still tied: Highest 5th game advances, if still tied,
Highest 4th, then 3rd, 2nd, then 1st. If still tied, lots will be drawn.
STEPLADDER: If at the end of a game in the stepladder the scores are tied, the following shall apply:
Highest scratch score advances. If still tied: 9th and 10th frame countback, if still tied, 9th and
10th frame roll off, If still tied, the total prize money for the two places will be evenly divided
and neither player shall advance to the next game.

DISPUTES:
If a dispute regarding pinfall cannot be resolved quickly, a provisional ball must be bowled.
All complaints must be made to the tournament manager verbally at the end of the games in question
and confirmed in writing before the end of the tournament.

DRESS CODE:
This is a sanctioned tournament, NO JEANS.
